Governor Lamont addressed USISPF members and industry leaders, touching on the business-friendly policies and investment opportunities in the state and how Indian companies would benefit from investing in Connecticut.
The Constitution State is known for its strength in financial services, with Hartford, CT earning the sobriquet of being the insurance capital of the world, manufacturing, agriculture, aerospace and, of course, known for its strength in IT services – as the number of Indian tech giants and member companies have thriving operations in the state. USISPF in partnership with Consulate General of India, New York hosted a discussion on reforms and opportunities in India’s insurance sector at the Indian Consulate in New York City, NY.
The interaction featured a virtual presentation from Mr. Parshant Kumar Goyal, Joint Secretary of Insurance- Ministry of Finance. This session provided expert insights into the reforms proposed by the Government of India in its Union Budget 2025-26, including commitments to raise the FDI limit and simplify the guardrails and conditionalities associated with foreign investment in the sector.

With India’s National Critical Minerals Mission in progress and 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) now permitted in the sector, the U.S. delegation expressed strong interest in exploring trade missions focused on mining, processing, and recycling.
